With anti-racist stalwarts including such nations as USA and Israel not in attendance, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the event's opening comedy act, the United Nations Conference on Racism, Botany, Spelunking, Animal Husbandry & Sodoku began on Monday, April 20, 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland, 8 years after the World Conference on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophia, Related Intolerance and Lint convened in Durban, South Africa.
With white male patriarchy fully dissolved domestically and abroad
upon the historic inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama, the
remaining vestiges of intolerance will most certainly be wiped out by year's end.

For a minute there, I thought you were serious. Good thing you tagged this as humor/satire. You can check out my take on the whole UN Conference Against Racism and Discrimination fiasco at my blog.
I came across your site when I looked up "black economy." I was wondering whether other people in the black community are thinking about starting alternative economies--based on barter and, possibly, alternative currencies. Do you know?
I'm especially concerned about this since I do hear these kinds of conversations happening in "hippie" and "yuppie" circles here in Portland, Oregon--that is in overwhelmingly white, yet self-proclaimed progressive, circles. I worry that we need effective strategies to combat the financial crisis in our communities especially since, as ACORN and as the piece you posted by Maya Wiley points out, communities of color have been hit especially hard by predatory lending practices.
