The better question we should be asking is how do we DEAL with the digital divide that is very pervasive in communities of lower incomes which mostly make up people of color. We have to first DEAL with this issue in order to truely remain competitive before we leave a large segment of our population behind in this more increasingly technological society.

Terry Samuel

I was excited to read this proposed New Digital Deal concept. In some respects it took me back to the days of JFK's Camelot.

I then reflected on many of those young people who are locked in the inner-city with scarce available digital resources. We assume that just about everyone has a home computer and speedy access to the internet regardless of their location or circumstances whether in the farm towns of remote Minnesota or the slums of Detroit.

Not all of us have the opportunities that others take for granted. Why don't we begin there with the New Digital Deal?

This is a terrific post, Helen, thanks! I blogged about it at the Social Citizens blog, http://blog.socialcitizens.org/. Thanks again!
